자연, 그중에서도 동물이 빚어낸 가장 감동적인 여정의 주인공은 ‘숭어’라고 생각합니다.
민물에서 태어나 개천과 강의 흐름을 따라 바다로 나아가고, 생을 다하기 전 이번에는 거센 강의 흐름을 역류해 올라갑니다. 때로는 나지막한 폭포를 만나도 굴하지 않고 힘차게 뛰어올라, 자신이 태어난 고향으로 돌아가 알을 낳고 한 세대의 흐름을 마감합니다.
저는 지난 1년여 동안 공공입찰 용역을 주로 수행해 왔으나, 정도가 너무 심한 동대문구청 공무원들의 갑질로 인하여 7월 16일 다니던 회사를 그만두었습니다. 이후 두문불출하며 4개의 사이트를 구축했습니다.
원래는 이 정도 선에서 마무리하려 했으나, 마침내 다섯 번째 결실로서 오늘 【인간 숭어 정동희 : ‘콤파스 엘 (Compass L) — 세상을 읽는 새로운 선과 논리’】의 창간사를 CompassL.com에 올리게 되어 감개무량합니다.
돌이켜보면, 2001년 모 증권사 투자전략팀장을 끝으로 여의도를 떠나 독립 미디어인 ‘안티뷰닷컴’을 만든 지 어느덧 25년의 시간이 흘렀습니다. 마치 숭어처럼 결국 내가 태어난 고향과 뿌리로 다시 돌아오는 거친 여정을 지나온 것입니다.
당시 애널리스트 선배의 권유로 증권정보 사이트에 지분 투자를 했다가 실패를 맛본 적이 있습니다. 증권사들의 배만 불리며 시장 참여자들을 혹사시키는 행태에 ‘애널리스트’라는 이름을 팔아 공모자가 되지 않겠다는 결의로, 직접 위험을 안고 필드에 뛰어들었습니다.
하지만 당시에는 전산 개발 능력이 없어 개발자와 필진 수용, 서버 구입 등에 비용만 소진하며 타인만 좋은 일을 시켜주었고, 끝내 바이러스 침투로 데이터가 훼손되며 복구 불능 상태를 겪는 아픔도 있었습니다.
그러나 문과 출신인 제가 올해 6월 18일, “기존의 AD 셈법은 더 이상 통하지 않으며, 새로운 준거와 준칙(Different Decree)에 의한 DD 셈법이 시작된다”는 선언과 함께 디크리(Ddecree.com)를 홀로 개설해 냈습니다. 이어 지난 20여 일간 글로벌 빅텐트(Dbigtent.com), 다른랩(Darunlab.com), 빅뱅2(2BIGBANG.com) 및 빅뱅3(BIGBANG3.com)까지 연달아 구축해 냈습니다.
이러한 경험과 노하우를 바탕으로, 상업적 확장성과 브랜딩의 깊이, 그리고 유료 미디어·플랫폼 전환 가능성 측면에서 기존의 안티뷰닷컴을 포함한 제 모든 개인 포트폴리오 중 압도적인 1위의 가치를 지닌 `CompassL.com`을 완성해 냈습니다. ‘숭어 정동희’의 치열하고 처절한 노력이 결실을 본 순간입니다.
2001년 당시에는 국내 시장에 국한되어 의견을 개진하던 한 구석의 애널리스트였지만, 지금의 저는 미국 국채시장과 주식시장, 그리고 글로벌 대체시장을 아우르며 전 세계를 무대로 실질적인 분석과 통찰을 던지고 있습니다. 그 어느 때보다 애널리스트 정동희의 지평은 글로벌하게 넓어졌습니다.

I believe that the mullet (Mugil cephalus) embodies one of the most moving journeys forged by nature and the animal kingdom.
Born in fresh water, it flows downstream along creeks and rivers to reach the vast ocean. Before its life comes to a close, it battles against the fierce current, swimming back upstream and fearlessly leaping over waterfalls, no matter how daunting, to return to its birthplace. There, it spawns and completes the cycle of its generation.
Over the past year or so, I have primarily been performing tasks for various publicly tendered projects. However, due to severe power trips and unfair treatment by public officials at the Dongdaemun-gu District Office, I left my company on July 16. Since then, isolating myself from external distractions, I successfully built and launched four distinct websites.
Initially, I intended to draw the line there. Yet, as the fifth fruit of this endeavor, I am deeply moved to publish today [Inaugural Address by Human Mullet Zheng Donghee: ‘Compass L — A New Compass and Logic for Reading the World’] on CompassL.com.
Looking back, it was in 2001 when I left Yeouido after serving as the Head of Investment Strategy at a securities firm, marking the end of my career as an institutional analyst, and founded AntiView.com. Twenty-five years have passed since then. Like a mullet, I have traversed a long and arduous journey only to return to the very place where I began.
At that time, prompted by a senior analyst who had long worked at the Daewoo Research Institute, I joined him as an investor, putting 5 million KRW into a startup aiming to launch a stock information portal. That venture ended in a total loss. However, unwilling to act as an accomplice by selling my title as an analyst while brokerage firms lined their own pockets and exploited market participants, I chose to take on the risk of founding my own business.
Yet, lacking software development capabilities back then, I ended up merely enriching others—spending over 5 million KRW on developers, another 5 million KRW on writers, and additional funds on purchasing servers. To make matters worse, the server was eventually infected by a virus, leaving the data permanently corrupted and unrecoverable.
Despite my background in the humanities, on June 18 of this year, I declared: “The era of AD calculation is over; the era of DD calculation, guided by a Different Decree, has begun.” With that, I independently built and launched Ddecree.com. Over the subsequent 20-odd days, I systematically established Dbigtent.com, Darunlab.com, 2BIGBANG.com, and BIGBANG3.com.
Building upon these experiences and technical foundation, I have now brought CompassL.com to completion—a platform that holds overwhelmingly superior potential within my personal portfolio, surpassing even AntiView.com in terms of commercial scalability, brand depth, and paid media/platform monetization capabilities. This marks the culmination of the desperate, relentless dedication of ‘Mullet Zheng Donghee.’
Back in 2001, my scope was limited to providing analytical commentary within the domestic Korean market. Today, however, I actively offer real-time insights and commentary on the U.S. Treasury market, the U.S. stock market, and global alternative asset markets. The horizon of analyst Zheng Donghee has expanded to a truly global scale.
